Health & Welfare

Photo of Peter Morgan dipping his feet on a farm Health & Welfare of our poultry are paramount to O'Kane Poultry. To this end we have invested heavily in both housing & equipment to provide optimum growing conditions for the birds. This includes the current program of installation of double glazed windows in a majority of our poultry houses. This allows both natural daylight into the sheds and birds to see outside. It also reduces electricity costs by having lights automatically switch off once the windows open every day therefore doing our bit to 'save the environment'.

We grow most of our poultry at stocking rates which are well below the Recommended European Stocking rates giving birds up to 20% more room to move about the shed

O'Kane Poultry have also invested a great deal in training of both Field Officers & farmers so they can deliver the best possible husbandry & management to the birds. The fact that our Poultry farms are small & farmers own the poultry houses & birds ensures that the bio-security, health & welfare of the birds are kept at the highest possible standards.
